Hyperhidrosis
Excessive Underarm Sweating
Excessive Underarm Sweating can be treated with Vaser
for Hyperhidrosis
If you suffer from excessive underarm sweating you are not alone. While sweating is normal and necessary to keep
the body cool, excessive sweating in public can be an uncomfortable nuisance.. Severe underarm sweating, or
axillary hyperhidrosis can affect how you dress and what activities you feel comfortable doing.
Hyperhidrosis is an embarrassing medical condition with major social, work, and emotional consequences that is
difficult to treat. Usually antiperspirants are the first-line treatments for hyperhidrosis, but these frequently
fail. Botox can curb excessive underarm sweating, but treatments are expensive ($1,000 to $1,500 per session) and
need to be performed several time a year. At Reflections excessive underarm sweating can be permanently reduced
with just one in-office Vaser ultrasound treatment to each underarm area.
The Vaser Hyperhidrosis treatment is a gentle,
minimally-invasive surgical procedure that takes about one hour to perform under local anesthesia in the
office. First a small amount of local tumescent anesthesia is infused through a tiny incision in the skin of
the armpit. Then a thin wand is passed just under the skin, to deliver a special frequency of ultrasonic VASER
energy to damage and kill the sweat glands without damaging the surrounding tissue. Only one stitch is needed
to close the incision in each axilla or armpit so scarring is minimal. Patients can go home immediately after
the procedure and resume normal activities within 24 hours. Most patients experience reduced sweating within
one week of the Vaser
Hyperhidrosis procedure!
Dr. Marie DiLauro, M.D. is one the first physicians in Ohio to offer hyperhidrosis treatments using the high
tech Vaser technique.
